DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY – HIGHLIGHTS

 

The Central Govt. had given one time grant for strengthening of the Psychiatry Wings of various Govt. Hospitals. Under this grant a new OPD building has been constructed. OPD services on all working days, morning (9:00 to 1:00) and evening (4:00 to 6:00). Number of patients are constantly increasing (presently 150-200 per day). Camps: There are at least 1-2 Diagnostic & Disability certification camps arranged in peripheral towns every month.

 

Certification: 100 certificates issued for Mental Retardation per month.

 

Male & female patients are housed in separate sides of a ward (shared with Dermatology Department). Admissions are voluntary. 30 Bedded ward with 80% bed occupancy rate.

Admissions on court order for Psychiatric opinion.

 

Round the clock psychiatric emergency services. Referral services for all medical specialties and emergency medical services are available in the hospital

 

         Various psychotherapies: Group, family, couple and individual counseling, Drug assisted interviews, Relaxation exercises.

 

 Developed “Manual for Psychiatric Disorders for Village Health Guides” in Gujarati, published by Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat.
